Band of Colors
Radiohead's latest album In Rainbows hit's the street October 10. But, without longtime major EMI running the show, the marketing and packaging of this album are taking on a different light.
After rumors that the new album would be delayed because of the lack of a record company to put it out, this time around Radiohead is doing it themselves. Initially the album is being marketed annd released solely on the Web. The interesteing marketing angle here is that for the first couple of months before a hard-copy version is released, the buyer (that's you and me) gets to decide on the price. That's right - how much is the new Radiohead album wrth to you?
Those out there that still feel comfort in the idea that they have purchased something tangible when buying music, will possibly be pleased by the forth coming In Rainbows box set, due out in December. The set will include various pieces, such as a double vinyl LP, an extra 8 song record, photos and a hard cover lyric book. The price of the box set is supposed to be around $80 and should make any Radiohead fan a great holiday gift.
Both versions are available now as pre-purchase items at the Radiohead Website.
