Ironic Bionic
As seen in WIRED Magazine, last month at the Robodock festival in Amsterdam, tech geeks, freaks and artists from all of the world converged to create, show and observe some amazing mechanical artwork which was put together mostly from scrap and reclaimed materials.
One 25 foot-long, 5,000 pound robotic hand fashioned from recycled machinery, was shown off as it was maneuvered to pick up various items such as shopping carts and automobiles. It then crushed the items and tossed the remains into the scrap yard. The creators ideally wanted to take the giant bionic hand on tour, but unfortunately, due to it's enormous size, the most feasible option seems to be to sell it back to the junkyard. Perhaps now they will need an even bigger robotic hand with which to crush this one.
